This last Thursday, the PFFSA was delighted to host Clayton Hall from Natmed for his talk titled 'Medical Malpractice & the Medico-Legal Implications' based on legal ethics.

During his presentation, Clayton provided an overview of the intersection between medicine and law, clarifying when a medical mishap transforms into medical negligence and outlining the potential consequences for practitioners facing legal action from patients. In addition to highlighting typical actions and omissions constituting negligence, the talk covered the negligence test and shed light on concepts like contributory negligence and varying degrees of negligence. Clayton also touched on informed consent, emphasizing how well-documented, informed consent can bolster a legal defense. Luckily, Clayton has assured us of his return next year to delve deeper into informed consent. Thank you, Clayton, for an insightful session!
